eat clean, get lean: 5 tips for staying in ketosis!

do you want to lose fat? have you faithfully stuck to your ketogenic diet? do you have signs that you're in ketosis?

if you answered yes, then you're doing an awesome job. take a moment and acknowledge your hard work and dedication! the hardest part of dieting is sticking to it. 

now that you're in ketosis, the key is to stay in ketosis. did you know you burn more fat when you are consecutively and consistently in ketosis? well, you do!
here are 5 tips that will help you stay in ketosis:

1. count your carbs - this is very important. to stay in ketosis, eating 30-50 grams of carbohydrates a day is recommended. however, you have to find your magic number. for me, eating more than 40 grams of carbohydrates kicks me out of ketosis. it's a fine line!

2. drink lots of water - to ensure you get plenty of water, drink a glass when you wake up, before every meal, after every bathroom break, and before you go to bed. because ketogenic diets have a diuretic effect, you need to replenish your body to avoid dehydration.

3. eat more fat - because you're cutting the carbs and calories, you're body needs the extra fat for energy. boosting your fat intake for a couple of days can also help kick you into ketosis after a enjoying a free meal.

4. avoid high carb foods and drinks - sugars and sweetened foods, all grains, all corn products, canned soups and stews, boxed processed foods, starchy vegetables, dessert wines, non-diet sodas, fruit juices and vegetable juices, milk (especially skim and 1%), fruit of any kind (dried, fresh, frozen), beans and lentils

5. don't give up - ketogenic diets are known for rapid fat loss. like any diet, losing more weight in the beginning and then leveling off is common. it takes time.

just think of how long it took you to put weight on. you're gonna take it off day by day, bite by bite.
